Another Niece for Me!

Nico just called: it would seem that the new baby will be a girl.  Who will be named Mina Charlotte, which is a delightfully normal and pretty name (Thank God).

Although yes, i did have this convo with the mum-to-be:

"Nina or Mina?"
"Mina."
"Mina as in 'Harker'?"
"Exactly."
"Well I'm making her 'Baby's First Dracula' as soon as I get home!"
"Totally!"
"OMG - Goth baby!"
"You know it!"

Mina is joining us... well right in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner by the current timeline. I'm happy for Nico: he will still have the onus of being the middle child, but the benefit of being the only boy which will help his wee sensitive soul.  I'm happy for Sophie, too, but as she will be essentially 9 years older than this baby they will exist in different orbits around the same planet.  Damn: the baby will be around Sophie's age now when Sophie heads off to college....

That's how my family played out - my older sister was nine and a half and I was seven when my little sister was born. We are all quite close but went through periods of being more or less close, depending on ages/stages/where we were living. I went to school with her for one year - when we moved to where my parents live now, we were zoned in a K-8 school so she was in grade one and I was in grade eight! But us two older girls were both living away from home at university before the younger even started high school.

It'll be interesting, and hopefully work out well for your family! I love my little sister dearly, but I do know I hope to have my children closer in ages. For one, honestly, I can't imagine having a long break between babies - getting over the whole breastfeeding/diapers/infant neediness and having school-aged children and then starting AGAIN OMG!

I have to admit, part of me thought 'you just got those two self-dependent, are you mad?' but hey - if they want to have another, more power to them!

The gap will be interesting - I'm glad you are close with your younger sister and I suspect in the end 'the gap' won't matter, but it will growing up because they will all be at such different places I think. Once we all reach adulthood, that sort of thing falls away. I guess my #1 hope is that Mina doesn't ever feel lonely, you know? Sophie & Nico are very close & they will be off doing things together where Mina cannot follow for so many reasons! I will have to add on extra layers of Auntie love for her ;)

You know, don't you, that my first reaction to your text was to think that the baby was BORN already!

Congrats on the new niece, Auntie Thing! They grow so fast! (Whoa, I remember when Sophie was BORN!!)

Sorry - text was misleading. LOL - in this day and age when people post FIRST PIC as an ultrasound I admit I dropped the ball. Should Text "Sexting is DUN - GRL! Wl B BRN in NOV" in future.

And Pfft - I just redid the sofa couch and thought 'Dude - Cindy was expecting Pummy!' These damn kids just date us, you know????

Which reminds me I have not met Emmy in person, so I am inviting myself to your house to play with BOTH your kids for HP DH t 1 or Pt 2. Part two I think - it will be EPIC!
