God Goes Bowling
Sep. 5th, 2006 12:54 amBlimey, is Aberystwyth a sister city for Oaklahoma City? That would be delightfully amusing in a cosmic way.
Cyffrous!
Okay, this blurb concerning a soon-to-be-opening film made me have a classic 'WTF?' moment:
The Covenant
In a story ripped straight from the headlines, "The Covenant" follows four teenaged warlocks who belive they may have unleashed a horrible, evil force upon the world.
(from RottenTomatoes)
Now, I have always said that we have terrible newspapers in San Francisco, but I simply missed on how much REAL news I have been missing out on! Where is all the team coverage of the marauding warlocks opening shafts in the earth to Hell? Even the San Jose Mercury News, a much better publication, has not mentioned this horrible occurance EVEN ONCE! WSJ? Missed this scoop too! New York Times is *clearly* part of a consiracy to cover this up, and they aren't mentioning it either. This must be why some many people are claiming print media is dying!
Of course, it could almost be an amusingly oblique refernece to the announcement from the Pope's "Chief Exorcist" earlier this week that he believes the 'Harry Potter' books are the work of Satan. Ignoring the 'the Pope has a chief exorcist?!?' issue, maybe the implication is that the plot of this movie is about 4 boys sitting about reading "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" when WHOOPS! the unleash that horrible evil thingy as Satan grabs their minds. Hollywood has had worse ideas made into films, of course.
