Jul. 23rd, 2006 02:16 pmI have imperial scientific proof of a new temperature measure: the KMP, or Kitten Melting Point. When KMP is reached, even 3 1/2 month old kittens will not romp, but will instead stretch out in small, imobile kitten puddles. You are aware that the KMP is being approached when romping session lengths deteriorate and will stop mid-leap for some serious panting, before the leap is completed. On a cute side note, this does have the benefit of allowing the observer to see a lot of kitten tongue, which is just adorable in a silly way.
It was 104 at my home yestereday- today it is only 97. All are miserable! Sebi actually became physically ill from the heat, and he is horrifically grumpy. I loaded him in the car and drove around with the air conditioning on high for an hour to give him some relief. And I feel too guilty to just leave him and find my own sacntuary at the movies or something. It's all rather sad and pathetic really.
Tomorrow, however, will be the real test - I am flying to LA for the day to surprise Sophie & Nico (who are down there visiting Grandma #2), and Tori and I are taking them to Disneyland for the day! I am very excited, but I live in fear of the temperatures we are going to be dealing with. Still, riding 'Pirates of the Caribean' with Nico at my side singing YO HO YO HO at the top of his lungs will be worth anything.
